Dreaming of Labradorite

Ever have those dreams where you wake up in the middle of the night with a jolt? I had one a few months ago and it made me so excited. A little too excited for 3 in the morning. Way too excited!

I woke up in the middle of the night and all I could think was "Labradorite." It was a strong thought and it came out of no where. I had to do some research immediately. So I sat in my living room on my computer and started researching. What did labradorite mean and what did it have to do with me?

Labradorite is fantastic for self discovery. It works perfect to help awaken your psychic abilities and your own awareness of personal growth. Sounds fitting to have a dream about it, doesn't it? Labradorite also helps with communicating with higher guides and spirits. This is what I am really excited about. This amazing stone acts like a conduit to certain guardian angels. Turns out I may have connected with mine. Labradorite is the stone to work with, especially if your guardian angel is Caliel or Haaiah.

Dreams really do have a way to show you things you never even thought of. I never even thought to find my guardian angel, but I am so glad my subconscious connected me to it. What has your dreams shown you lately?

How Dreams Can Give You Closure

Dreams are powerful. Not only do they give us much needed insight but they can also heal emotional wounds and give you closure. Think of it this way. Have you ever had a dream about a loved one…where you talked through an issue? Or said goodbye? Or made amends? Chances are, you felt infinitely better when you woke up. Even though it was a just a dream, you were able to be open and honest about your feelings.

Yes, dreams have the ability to give you closure that you may be unable to receive in your waking life. This can lift an emotional burden - and allow you to live without guilt or regret. Closure through dreams is real and it has happened to me many times throughout the years. 

After my grandma died, I was consumed by guilt. I kept thinking about all the times I didn’t call, the things I didn’t get to say, and the visits that were cut short. One night, she came to me in a dream. She wrapped her arms around me and I knew that all was forgiven. That dream allowed me to move forward and stop punishing myself for the past.

I had another closure-related dream after the end of a toxic relationship. It wasn’t until the relationship was over that I realized how emotionally abusive and manipulative it had been. I hated myself for the things I did not do…. for the things I did not say…. and for everything I couldn’t change. I wound up listening to a guided meditation for forgiveness. That night, I had a vivid dream where I yelled, screamed, and let it all out. When I woke, a weight had been lifted from my shoulders.

It’s amazing what dreams can do.

How To Gain Closure From Dreams

  • Before bed, think about what you want to let go of. Create an intention and hold crystals in your hand while you do so. (There are many crystals to choose, from depending on your specific area of concern. Take a look at this guide to Crystals For Emotional Issues to find the right crystal for you.)
  • Listen to a guided meditation related to forgiveness, closure, or moving forward. One that I really enjoy comes from Doreen Virtue. You can purchase it on her website or check out one of the free meditations on her YouTube page.)
  • Try a Reiki healing session either in person or online. If you are able to have a full Reiki healing done…book an appointment. It will bring many emotional blockages to the surface. That can often carry over into your dreams. Alternatively, you can check out YouTube videos for distance healing.

Vivid Dreaming

I have always had a very vivid imagination ever since I was a kid. I could make up stories and play with my imaginary friends. My imagination never seemed to stop. Not even when I was sleeping.

My dreams never usually make sense, but they are so strong that I can touch, smell, see and hear things as if they happen in real life. In fact I have often had arguments with my boyfriend, believing conversations happened, but in reality I dreamt it. It's sometimes hard to believe what is real and what isn't.

What are vivid dreams? Vivid dreams are definitely one to remember. They can be extreme symbolic thoughts brought forth from our subconscious. Sometimes they have prophetic deeper meanings than regular dreams. Most people do not remember their dreams, even though we  dream every night.

I seem to have one reoccurring dreams. It happens every few months or so. It seems to be just before something happens within the family. I close my eyes and as I drift off to sleep I am taken to my safe place. I am at my cottage. It is exactly how it's suppose to be. I can feel the breeze and hear it whistling through the trees. I can put my hand out and touch the railing of the deck. I see the white patio furniture in the exact spots they've always been. Everything is perfect.

I walk inside and some of my family members are there. That part always changes. The only person who is always there is Nana. We sit and we talk. The conversations I can never remember, but I am glad she is there. She is communicating with me from the other side. It's peaceful and I am happy. The part where I wake up every time is when I walk back out onto the deck and there are snakes all over. I am scared and I wake, but not in terror as if I had woken from a nightmare. Snakes in a dream can mean one of two things- you are dealing with a stressful or emotional situation or that healing and transformation are occurring.

From the moment I wake up I am sad and lonely. My safe place is gone again and I am not sure when it will return. Sometimes being in a dream is better than reality. Do you have vivid dreams? Do you write them down?

What Your Nightmares Really Mean


Nightmares are an unfortunate part of my reality. They don’t happen every night…. but far more often than I’d like. The people, places, and situations are always changing. However, the panic remains the same. Long after I wake up in my nice, warm bed, the fear lingers, holding me in its icy clutches. Sometimes, it takes hours to calm down.

Do you suffer from constant nightmares? Here is a bit of good news: they aren’t necessarily bad. Like all dreams, nightmares reveal desires, thoughts, and ambitions that are buried in our subconscious. Though the dreams themselves may be upsetting, they can actual do a lot of good. It is time to discover what your nightmares really mean.

Common Nightmares

Though our dreams are unique and always changing, many themes and situations appear time and time again. Some of the most common include:

  • Being Chased. Often, we have dreams about being chased by someone or something. These typically suggest that there is something in your day-to-day life that is causing you anxiety. It means you tend to run away or avoid conflict.
  • Flying or Troubles In The Air. This is a nightmare that I have often – being in an airplane and plummeting to the ground. It usually happens before a vacation or trip, indicating that my mind is on transportation. The meaning behind it is more significant than pre-travel jitters, though. Nightmares about flying represent something stopping you from moving onto a new chapter in your life. It may also have to do with fear that you cannot live up to your high standards.
  • Running Late. Another common nightmare is running late or rushing around. One interpretation of this dream is that you feel you are running out of time to accomplish your goals. Alternatively, it may relate to taking a different direction in your life or career.
  • Falling. If you have a dream that you are falling, this can relate to anxiety, fear, or insecurity you have about something going on in your life. It may also be letting you know that you struggle to accept change.

How to Deal With Nightmares

Waking up from a nightmare can be a jarring experience. One moment, you are in a terrifying or perilous situation, and the next…. everything is okay. It takes your brain a while to adjust. To deal with a nightmare, start by:

  • Sitting up in your bed rather than staying in a sleeping position. You need to separate yourself from your nightmare.
  • Either sit on the edge of your bed with your feet on the floor or stand up and get something to drink. This step will help ground you in reality.
  • Use logic to calm your mind. Remind yourself that it was just a dream and everything is fine. This is a good time to use a dream dictionary or look online for possible explanations of your nightmare. Knowing what the dream actually meant can help you gain a sense of closure.
  • Do your best to go back to sleep. If necessary, put on some calming music or a guided meditation for sleep.

Can You Prevent Nightmares From Happening?

If you have grown weary of nightmare after nightmare, there are some preventative measures to consider. Their effectiveness is always up for debate, but they are certainly worth a try.

  • Dream catchers have long been a part of Native American culture. (To find out more about them, check out this post.) They were thought to catch bad dreams and only let good dreams flow through. Not only are they beautiful to look at…but they might help you get a better night of sleep, too.
  • Certain crystals are linked to a better sleep and a peaceful state of mind. Some well-placed stones can help you let go of stress and avoid nightmares altogether. A few to consider include: amethyst (a healing stone that restores balance), moonstone (a stone that reduces emotional tension), clear quartz (provides a calm state of mind), and smoky quartz (which gets rid of negative energy).
We all experience nightmares at one time or another. It’s okay! Use them as an opportunity to dig deep and discover more about yourself.

How I went from being a lonewolf to a shaggy dog


Yep you read that title right. I have always been kind of a loner. I had a great group of friends and we did things together, but if you asked me to be honest I would tell you I much appreciated my time alone. To do things as I wanted, when I wanted was a great treat for me. So imagine my delight when the test results came in and my spirit animal was a wolf. Fate? I think so!

So what exactly does a wolf represent when it becomes a spirit animal? The wolf represents a sharp intelligence, strong instincts and an even stronger need for freedom. If you have a wolf as your spirit animal it could be a sign that you are dealing with a big challenge in your life. Even though they do love and crave freedom wolves run in packs and family means everything. The wolf spirit is a reminder to keep yourself authentic and true.

Almost 2 years ago I entered the best relationship I have ever been in. We moved in together quickly, which was a very very big change for me. For someone who was a lone wolf for so long, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed having someone in my home. It was a much smoother transition than I anticipated.

So it really shouldn't have been such a surprise when a new spirit animal came to me in a guided meditation. A shaggy dog. Really? What happened to my wolf? Obviously I had to do some digging.

Dogs are a reminder to be loyal, kind and truthful. not only to other people, but to yourself as well. You are and should always be your best friend. Having the dog as your spirit animal shows that you have a lot of spirit and heart. Don't let anyone take that away.

Am I disappointed in having the dog as my spirit animal? Absolutely not. The wolf is in there still and when I need it, it will come back out. I think being the domesticated dog is a nice change of pace and I will keep him around for awhile.

Why Your Spirit Animals Can Change Over Time


Nothing stays the same forever. This is true in life and when it comes to spirit animals. For a long time, I thought there was one spirit animal for everyone, and that was it. Was I ever wrong! After discovering that my spirit animal was a swan…. I was puzzled when a deer came to me during a spirit animal meditation. What did it mean? Was the swan no longer part of my life? This led me to do some digging.

According to SpiritAnimals.info, people can have one or more spirit animals throughout their lives. Some may come to you during specific phases, during major shifts or changes, or even for a special occasion. It does not matter how many spirit animals you have. What really matters is the connection you feel to each one. Spirit animals can help us navigate stressful moments, strengthen our inner bond, and allow us to achieve a happy and balanced existence. While you may start out with one spirit animal…it is unlikely to end there. Many more will come and go, as you need them.

These animals may represent certain characteristics you posses or highlight traits you feel are lacking. These protectors act as guides in our lives – helping us dig a little deeper and understand our true selves. There are many ways to discover your spirit animals. Try doing a guided meditation, take a quiz, or do some reading and see which ones speak to you. The most important thing to do is trust your gut. If an animal stands out (even if it did not in the past), pay attention.

Not sure what your spirit animal is? Do some research and see which animals peak your interest. Here is a bit of information on two of the most significant spirit animals in my life: the swan and the deer.

Spirit Animal: Swan
  • The swan often represents messages from angels, energy healing, and spiritual devotion. (Which is interesting, considering my budding interest in angel therapy!) It also relates to beauty, grace, poise, and elegance.
  • If a swan appears, it is a sign to slow down and be in the present moment. The swan holds messages of love and healing – and urges you to let go of emotions that no longer serve you.
  • When you are strongly drawn to the swan, it means you are a healer. You want to bring blessings of hope to other people in one way or another.
Spirit Animal: Deer
  • The deer typically represents innocence, adaptability, new doors opening, the presence of angels, and a promise of peace.
  • If a deer appears for you, it means that angels are nearby. These animals relate to softness and light – and in these moments of softness and light, angels are able to appear.
  • When you are drawn to the deer it often has to do with a new beginning in your life. That could mean a new job, the start of a new project, meeting someone significant, and so on. This new adventure energy is positive, loving, and can help you adapt to change.
Spirit animals are an incredible way to understand yourself, love yourself, and learn more about your true path.

How to Find Your Spirit Animal

Spirit animals, your personal guide to help and protect you throughout life. They can come and go and you are not limited to just one. Depending on where you are in your life journey you will need to a different animal. So how do you find your spirit animal? You can try one of these three ways if you like!

1- Meditate- You can use soft meditation music or a guided meditation if you like. Close your eyes and clear your mind. Picture being out in nature. It can be anywhere- the beach, a meadow, a forest etc. As long as it is peaceful for you. Look around and "just be" in your calm vision. If an animal appears then that could be your  spirit animal. It may take a couple of times for you to find it and connect with it, but I have faith!

2- Dreams- You will be surprised of what your dreams will show you. Dreams are where your subconscious comes alive. When you wake up in the morning try writing in a dream journal so you can remember them. Your spirit animal could be lurking in there.

3-Walk around nature or at the zoo- Is there an animal that keeps popping up in your presence? Maybe it is trying to tell you something. Do some research on that animal. Does it align with your life at the moment? It could be your spirit animal ready to connect with you.

Spirit animals can play a big part of your life if you can learn to look for the signs. How did you find your spirit animal?

Symbols, Signs, and Spirit Animals


I have always believed in symbols and signs. Growing up, I was certain that fluffy snowflakes were a sign from Heaven. To me, they represented someone I had lost, saying hello. Whenever I saw them falling…. I would look up at the sky and say thank you. My belief in symbols and signs didn’t end there. If a breeze came out of nowhere, I thought it was a friendly hello from the universe. That it was a reminder to pause, reflect, and be grateful.

Perhaps my openness to symbols and signs explains my belief in spirit animals. I feel certain things call out to us - whether it is a sign, colour, or animal. Something about it resonates on a deep spiritual level. It provides us with wisdom, connection, and comfort.

An example of the latter? Before going in for a procedure at the hospital, my anxiety was at an all time high. At the time, my iPod was playing “The Eagle and The Hawk” on repeat. For whatever reason, that song calmed me down. On the way to the hospital, a massive bird flew over and around our car for several minutes. I don’t know if it was a hawk, an eagle, or something else altogether. What I do know is that its appearance gave me an overwhelming sense of peace when I needed it most.

That day, I was given the gift of hope. Though many spirit animals have presented themselves to me since then (either through meditation or an unexplained connection), one thing is certain: I will never forget the first.

My beliefs, my faith, my way

What is the difference between spirituality and religious beliefs? Is there even a difference anymore? 100 years ago (heck even 50 years ago) things were very "black and white" especially when it came to religious beliefs. There were strict rules and guidelines that were to be followed everyday.

Nowadays, the lines are a little bit blurred. People are more focused on spirituality and growth than ever before. More and more people are sending their intentions into the universe rather than 1 God. They are putting their energies into powerful crystals rather than praying. Quite frankly either path is great. There is no wrong path or answer.

Even with the lines being blurred, sometimes people are still being faced with judgment. In ways that are completely opposite from years ago. New age techniques and metaphysics are  becoming increasingly popular while organized religion is taking a back seat. I am glad that more and more people are being more comfortable with their spirituality. What about the people who want a bit of both?

I am one of those people and I know there is a lot more people like me out there. I was raised a Catholic, but lived in a household where religion was not a primary focus. Whatever I wanted too learn I taught myself and it was  great. I learned about my own religion and I took an interest in other religions. Eventually I fell in love with new age techniques as well.

So should I give up everything I know? Absolutely not! The great thing about life is that you can learn  so many great and beautiful things. So I found some ways to combine both:

1- Use candles- Candles are important no matter what you believe and are universal in all religions. They are a great tool to set your intentions and to say your prayers. Use them every day however you choose.

2- Build an Altar- Altars are built for meditation, prayers and to give thanks. They are a sacred space for you and should be built the way you want them. Altars are greatly used throughout time. The purpose of them is always the same, even if they are set up differently.

3- Use statues, angels and crystals- No matter what you believe, you can choose to put any statue of gods, angels or higher beings on your altar. That is the great thing about altars. They are your special place and should have what is special to you on them.

No matter what your beliefs are, no one should ever tell you what to believe. Your beliefs may change over time, but that is your decision. What are your thoughts and feelings on the subject? Comment in the box below!

Amanda's Top 5 Favourite Crystals

You know that overwhelming feeling you get when you hold something beautiful in your hands? That feeling of joy and awe of something so spectacular and powerful? That's how I feel when I hold my favourite crystals in my hands. It just washes over me.

Here are my 5 favourite crystals:

1- Citrine- There was never any doubt in mind which crystal was my favourite. Whether it is heat treated or raw, I love citrine. I use it when I am working on my solar plexus chakra. Citrine is fantastic for abundance, wealth and prosperity as well as self esteem and self confidence. It truly is a magnificent stone.

2- Tiger's Eye- I fell in love with tiger's eye the moment I saw it. I don't think it's overly shiny and beautiful, but I was instantly drawn to it. It's a great stone to enhance your psychic abilities. I wear my tiger's eye necklace to not only protect myself against ill wishes, but to accomplish goals as well.

3- Carnelian- I have some issues with my ovaries and have had them for years. Imagine my delight when I discovered carnelian. They work with the root chakra and influence the female reproductive organs. Carnelian is a great stone for creativity and motivation, which is why it sits on my desk in the bedroom.

4- Orange Calcite- " Orange calcite reminds one of being a child again; carefree, feelings of happiness, cheerfulness, joyfulness and laughter." When I first read the description I knew my piece of orange calcite was going to be one of my favourites. This is a positive stone that enhances your energy. I really should buy more and place them all over my apartment since it cleanses negative energies!

5-Rose Quartz- Some of the greatest things can take you by surprise. I never expected to feel strongly about rose quartz, especially since it's pink. It's a stone of unconditional love and peace and it works specifically with the heart chakra. This is a great stone to have in your bedroom or to wear close to your heart!

Shannon's Top Five Favourite Books


Reading has always been a big part of my life. Shy by nature, books allowed me to connect with others…. without experiencing fear and social anxiety. Words were my escape and continue to be so today. Not only do I write professionally, but I am also an avid reader. The latter is especially true when it comes to crystals and spirituality. There is so much I want to learn!

Amanda and I are always reading one book or another. Though the topics may change from month to month, the ultimate goal is the same: to learn, grow, and connect. So, without further ado, here are my top five favourite books.

The Complete Idiots Guide to Chakras. Beginnings can be both exciting and scary. When my path of self-discovery started, I was terrified that I would never learn enough. Thankfully, The Complete Idiots Guide to Chakras was the first book I bought. It is straightforward, easy to read, and to the point. This is a fantastic resource and an even better jumping off point. If you are looking to dip your toes in the water…start here.

Crystal Therapy: How to Heal and Empower Your Life With Crystal Energy. I am a big fan of Doreen Virtue. Though I have barely scratched the surface of her extensive catalogue of books, recordings, and oracle cards, this Crystal Therapy book is a definite favourite. This is a fantastic beginner based book, which touches on topics like working with crystals, the meanings of commonly used stones, and even angel therapy. (This book sparked that particular interest for me!) I often use this as a reference guide.

Healing With Crystals. If you want an in-depth look at crystals (both popular and rare) then this book is an absolute must. My copy has been read through so many times that it is highlighted, dog-eared, and well loved. (Note: I could not find a link to purchase this online but be sure to check out your local gem shop to purchase a copy of your own.) This book goes into great detail on numerous crystals. There are possible meanings, medical uses, affirmations, and so much more. It is a must have!

Women’s Book of Joy: Listen to Your Heart, Live With Gratitude, and Find Your Bliss. Few books have affected me as deeply as the Women’s Book of Joy. Though the book is fairly small in size, it is jam packed with life lessons, positive affirmations, and wisdom. The book is broken up into sections (like how to focus on happiness, the meanings of dreams, and so on) that make it easy to read - even if you are short on time. I have read this through twice and like to repeat the affirmations before bed. I cannot recommend this enough. It has helped me become more positive, focused, and connected to my true self.  

Everyday Wisdom For Success. I’ll be honest. There was a lot of personal debate over which book would finish off my top five list. (The Angel Bible, You Are a Badass, and The Chakra Bible were all contenders.) In the end, I chose Everyday Wisdom for Success. This is actually downloaded on my cell phone. It is full of motivational affirmations, phrases, and thoughts that are quick and easy to digest…but incredibly powerful and uplifting. I like to read this on my break or when I have a spare moment in my day. It makes me feel connected and positive.

Amanda's Top 5 Incense Scents


I am a scent junkie and a scent snob all rolled into one. Seriously. Sometimes it feels so great walking into  a room and smelling the sweet, sweet scents of my candles or my incense holder. My apartment is cluttered with both and I am constantly buying more. My boyfriend even contributes to my addiction. He is such an enabler.

 While lots of people enjoy warm scents such as vanilla and caramel, I prefer the cool or tangy fragrances in my collection. Sitting in my sacred space I love to light one of the sticks and put it in my favourite holder (pictured above). Taking slow deep breaths can take me from a stressful moment to instant bliss. Check out my top 5 incense for my meditation area!

1- Eucalyptus- This is one of my favourite aromas. I have plenty of  sticks, as well as essential oils. I get headaches frequently, so eucalyptus is my go-to scent. It is a very sharp scent, so a little goes a long way! It is also a great scent to purify and protect!

2- Orange- I really love my citrus smells and it was almost a tie between orange and lemon. Orange is a great fragrance to help attract love, luck and money. I am sure we all could use a bit more of that in our lives!

3- Lilac- Lilac trees are gorgeous. Their smell is equally as gorgeous. Even thinking about it now I can almost smell the fresh aroma. Lilac scent is a very strong scent, but can also be very soothing. Lilac incense is also very beneficial in increasing your psychic powers.

4- Rose- Rose is my go to when I want to bring love into my place. You can't help, but let the smell fill you up when the incense is burning. Rose is also good when you need to bless a new home.

5- Lemon grass- When my headaches kick in my head gets heavy and entire day is spent in a fog. That is where my lemon grass comes in handy. Lemon grass helps for mental clarity. It is exactly what I need.

You have to find a scent that works for you. It is all about personal preference.  Warm, cool, citrus, or wood. There are so many choices! Play around and test some out! Let us know in the comment section below about your favourite scents. We're curious to find out!

Shannon's Top Five Favourite Crystals


Some people have crystal collections that completely take over their homes. I do not. At the moment, everything I have fits in one small box. Though I do not have thousands of beautiful crystals at my fingertips…. I have an abundance of beautiful and meaningful stones. Each and every one has a special place in my heart.

Despite my modest (but well loved) collection, some crystals are used more than others. On that note, here are my top five favourites!

Red Jasper. The first on my list is red jasper. This was one of the first crystals in my collection. The one I have is a beautiful deep red, shaped like a heart, and sits on my nightstand. Every now and then, I hold it in my hand, breathe deeply, and feel its energy come through me. This is a stone of empowerment, healing, and protection. It eliminates negativity – and helps you achieve balance, reduce worry, and calm anxiety.

Green Calcite. Many of the crystals in my collection look aesthetically pleasing. They are smooth, shiny, or have an intricate pattern. Then there is my green calcite. It is rough, jagged, and has brown patches in the centre. From the outside, it is not a beautiful stone, but I love it more than I can express. It has a way of making me feel comfortable and at ease. This crystal is an amplifier – and green calcite is thought to bring about prosperity and abundance.

Green Aventurine. Yes, another green stone. Sensing a pattern here? Over the last six months or so, I have been very drawn to blues and greens. Especially as I focus my attention on abundance and gratitude. Green aventurine is without a doubt my most used stone. I carry one in my pocket at work and have one in my wallet at all times. This healing stone provides comfort and gets rid of negative emotions. It is also an attractor of luck and opportunity!

Amethyst. Another crystal that I use often is amethyst. I have many different shapes and sizes of amethyst in my collection. The reason for this? This makes it possible to keep one with me, use it in grid work, and place it somewhere significant. All at the same time. The stone is beautiful, calming, and fills me with a sense of peace and tranquility. This healing crystal represents love, protection, and balance.

Orange Selenite. The last on my list is orange selenite. I have a round stone that sits on top of a small metal stand. Whenever I am writing an article or am struggling to tap into my creative side, I keep this next to me. Protective, calming, and soothing, this is one stone you want to have around. It also has been found to boost self-esteem and improve creativity.

We all have our favourite crystals. My list may change every now and then (I believe that certain stones come into our lives when we need them), but these are currently my most used.

Websites To Check Out

It's true. You really do have the world at your finger tips. Especially with Google as your best friend. Luckily for us in this day and age, we can find any information we want online. That makes learning so much easier.

Over the past two years, Shannon and I have read books, visited vendors at shows, and have found some great local shops. Still, the easiest way to learn and connect to people is through the internet. Especially since we live in a town where crystals and new age items are not quite popular yet. Even though I can say it is getting better.

Here are some of our favourite websites:

www.crystalvaults.com This is a great website to buy or find information on any crystal or stone. They include very detailed information on each crystal that is very easy to understand. Crystal Vaults also provide great free guides and resources for crystal reference, amulets and talismans, grids and so much more!

www.energymuse.com Energy Muse is also a great website that has many exciting treasures. My favourite part of their website is their blog. They touch on many different topics, not just crystals. Their easy-to-navigate website and blog allows readers to check out not only their jewellery and crystal, but topics such as rituals, intentional living, healing, and chakras as well.

www.sagegoddess.com Sage goddess does it all. Not only does her website have a blog and a shop where you can buy her lovely jewellery and treasures, but she also teaches classes online and provides knowledge on a range of topics. Sage Goddess also has groups on Facebook that talk about crystals and full moon rituals. Seriously, she does it all!

The great thing about websites and blogs is that it allows for anyone (whether you are a beginner or expert), to ask questions, find answers and connect with people who have the same interests as you. The Best Oracle Card Apps


There is no available space on my phone. Every day, a notification will pop up about the appalling lack of room. The reason this keeps happening? Oracle card apps. There are at least eight of them on my phone at any given time. For the most part, I use the same ones on a regular basis, but every now and again, I’ll find another to add to the collection.

If nothing else, this highlights the way that spirituality and new age practises are changing. Now, it is possible to experience spiritual growth on the go. It doesn’t matter if you are on the way home from work, waiting to meet a friend, or are winding down before bed. A selection of cards is just a tap away. This allows you to gain insight, learn more about yourself, and find answers to questions that have been weighing on your mind. Without ever shuffling a card!

Intrigued? Looking for some new oracle card apps to try out? Here are a few of the best (and most used) on my phone:

Ancient Wisdom Oracle Cards. The first on this list is easily my most used. The Ancient Wisdom oracle cards can be used in a few different ways. Choose one card, three, or five for a reading that will give you insight on your past, present, and future. You can use the free version or upgrade for a small fee to unlock all 60-oracle cards. One excellent feature to note? The Ancient Wisdom app actually includes reversed cards – giving you the full experience of a physical deck.

Spirit Oracle Cards App. Another must have download is the Spirit oracle cards app. Users can pick one, two, or three cards for a reading related to the body, mind, and soul. The aim of the Spirit deck is to remind us that we are powerful creators. It connects us with our spirit and guides us towards a positive future. With 48 cards in total (like the Ancient Wisdom cards, many can be chosen from for free and the full deck is available for a small fee) this is a beautiful and well-rounded deck. 

Archangel Michael Oracle Deck. I have felt a strong connection to Archangel Michael for a while now, so this deck is of particular importance to me. It is one that has a special place in my heart. To use the app, all you need to do is choose one, three, or five cards. Then you will receive a reading focused on spiritual development, healing, and advancement. There are 44 cards in total with a wide selection available for free. Something to keep in mind? Each card has a lengthy description, affirmations to recite, and a few alternative meanings. This is definitely a quality oracle card app.

Vibrational Energy Oracle Cards. There are three different types of readings to choose from on this last deck. Pick one, three, or eleven cards (there are 52 overall) to find out how to deal with change and move past emotional blocks. One thing I love about this deck in particular is how straightforward it is. The descriptions are short, to the point, and easy to digest. It is the perfect way to start or end your day.

The Sweet Soothing Sounds of Meditation Music

Music is a big part of my life. I've got a genre for every mood. Happy? Pop music. Angry? Rock. Sad? Slow country songs. Anxious? Meditation music. Whenever I am feeling overwhelmed or stressed, I put on meditation music, stand still, and take a few deep breaths. Then I let the sounds wash over me. It helps me feel better and I can listen to it anywhere.

Benefits of Meditation Music

1. Reduces stress and relaxes your body. The soothing notes of the music relax your mind, which then starts to relax your body. It gives you a chance to center yourself and quiet your mind.

2. It sends you into a deep meditation. Whether you are listening to a soft melody or nature sounds, you will slip into a deeper meditation and feel refreshed and rejuvenated.

3. Use it to fall asleep faster and sleep deeply. For those who need noise to fall asleep this is the perfect solution. Nature sounds or meditation music does need to be played loudly. It should be just loud enough to feel soothing, like a lullaby.

4. It calms you during airplane travel. Lots of people are scared of flying (myself included). Put on your headphones, turn on your meditation music and close your eyes. Let your mind wander and your stress will be reduced. The trip will be over before you know it!

5. Allows for better concentration during tasks. When stress and tension is high, tasks are less likely to completed with ease.  By listening to meditation music, you can focus your mind and accomplish things quickly.

Meditation Apps To Download

It's great when you have 20-30 mins to sit down and follow a guided meditation. (If you are able to, check out Shannon's post from yesterday on the topic!) Sometimes life get hectic and I am left with little time to calm down. When that happen, I am so glad I have my go-to meditation apps on my phone. These are a few of my favourites:

My Chakra Mediation. This is one of my favourites and I am constantly turning it on. Each chakra has its own beautiful tones and music. The music is not overly loud, which is perfect. This app is amazing for sleep, work, or meditation.

Tibetan Singing Bowls Chakra. This one is a new one on my phone and I have instantly fallen in love with it. There are two parts to this app. The first is Tibetan singing bowl music for each Chakra and the 2nd is regular meditation music. Both play very different sounds, so it's all about preference. The visual effects are gorgeous too! The only downside to this one is that it doesn't flow into the next song. So this is not going to work for sleeping, but is good for a 5 minute meditation


Meditation Music - by Avryx. Okay, this one had me sold when they played flute music with a thunderstorm in the background. I love nature sounds and can easily get into a calm state when listening to this app. It has many songs to choose from and some are paired with nature sounds, so the choices are great!

Making The Most of Guided Meditation


Silence is something I struggle with. The eerie still causes my mind to wander, worry, stress, and panic. Despite enjoying alone time…the quiet has always made me feel uneasy. Perhaps that is why sounds have played such a huge role in my life. Music was nothing short of an addiction, movies the perfect distraction, and everyday sounds, a blissful symphony. It was only a matter of time before guided meditation found its way into my life. For me, it was the best of both worlds: sound and stillness.

What Is Guided Meditation?

If you are interested in the practise of meditation (which has been proven to reduce stress levels, improve concentration, increase happiness, and boosts self-awareness) but don’t know how to begin…or struggle with silencing the mind…guided meditation is the perfect solution. It is literally meditation with the help of a guide. A narrator will speak to you in a calm and relaxing manner and take you on an inner journey.

Some guided mediations are focused entirely on relaxation while others are dedicated to themes of empowerment or self-improvement. Once you are in a meditative state, the subconscious mind is relaxed and open, which allows positive suggestions to take hold.

How Can You Practise?

There are a number of different ways to experience guided meditation. Some people will go to a session (where a narrator leads the mediation either one on one or in a group setting) while others will listen to a CD or watch a video from the privacy of their homes. There is no right or wrong way to practise guided meditation. The most important thing is that you are able to relax and get in touch with your inner self.

Tips To Make The Most of Guided Meditation:
  • Don’t settle. It might take some searching to find a guided meditation that works for you. That could mean different classes, narrators, or looking online for other alternatives. Be open to trying new things!
  • Create a comfortable space. Relaxation is an important part of the meditative process, so be sure to practise meditation in a space you want to be in. Put down pillows, light candles, and create an inviting area.
  • Schedule time for meditation. The easiest way to derail your meditation is to think about all the things you need to get done. Forget your to do list by setting aside time for this important practise.
  • Try to let go. In order to experience the many benefits of guided meditation, it is vital that you breathe deeply and let go. Listen to the narrator, use visualization techniques, and fully give into the process.

What To Do When Your Family Doesn't Support You


Sometimes, I like to test the waters. I’ll throw out a reference to crystal therapy in a conversational way, to see what the reaction will be from my family. One example? I read about crystal infused nail polish in a magazine. So, I casually brought it up to my beauty product loving mom. Her response was less than enthusiastic. She called it silly nonsense. My brother piped in to express his distaste as well.

I have done the same thing with my husband. He already knows that I watch ASMR videos to help me sleep - and has been incredibly supportive about that. To test the waters, I put on a video from my all-time favourite ASMR creator about Chakras. Again, it was a less than desirable response.

Knowing that I do not have the support of my loved ones, this journey of self-discovery, learning, and healing has been a little bittersweet. I keep most of my crystals hidden in colourful boxes (though some are displayed discreetly). I read books on Angel Therapy on breaks at work. I have an iPod full of guided meditations for walks home. There is a stack of oracle cards hidden underneath my office couch.

At this point, I am not comfortable being open with my family about my interests. Though I like to believe this will change someday. If you are dealing with a similar scenario, here are a few suggestions to help you cope.

  • Remember Why You Are Doing This. We all want the approval of our family and friends, but it is important to remember that we cannot live our lives to please others. Whenever you feel stuck or trapped, pause, and remember why you are doing this. It is a journey for and about you.
  • Appreciate The Time You Are Dedicating To Yourself. For me, reading books on crystals and listening to guided meditations is exciting and inspiring. It is dedicated “me time.” I look forward to those hours alone and cherish every moment. You can, too! It is all about the way you view the experience. 
  • Be Understanding With Yourself and Your Loved Ones. It is important to focus on love and compassion. Love yourself for the powerful journey you are on. And love your family for doing their very best. They may not understand your interests…but that may change in the future. Until then, be compassionate, understanding, and open.

Look inside yourself to find your best self

Ever ask yourself "What am I doing with my life?" or say " I am not 100% satisfied"? Welcome to my daily struggle. I have a great life, fantastic boyfriend, amazing friends and supportive family. Outside of that, I think I sort of lost myself. The past two years are what I like to call "my reflective years". I sat down many times and realized that the path I thought I desperately wanted was not the path for me anymore. My life wasn't making me happy. I thought being the career driven single girl was what I was meant to be in life, but it was a heavy load I was carrying by myself, and I was burnt out. I had to figure out what changes I needed and how to make them. Life became so much better for me when I switched career paths and ended up with the love of my life.

These are my strategies for finding your best self and enjoying life on your own terms:

Meditate- Meditation is a fantastic tool. Find a quiet area where you won't be disturbed. Close your eyes and clear your mind. Use a guided meditation or some peacful music and just let your mind wander. You'll be surprised what answers may float to the surface.

Use crystals- You can use different crystals depending on the answers you seek. While meditating, hold crystals in your hand. Focus on that crystal and the properties it has. Crystals are a fantastic tool for you to utilize.

Create a list- Sit with a piece of paper and write down everything that makes you happy. Don't worry how crazy the list may be. Your life journey may be in that list and you don't even know it.

Keep a reflection journal- Write in a journal about your day. Talk about positive and negative experiences, your feelings, new things you tried, etc. Look back every now and again and see what made you feel great.

Try new things- I was very nervous to start my journey with crystals. I am so glad I did though and I am much happier now. Try new things and have no regrets. They may not always work out, but at least you can say you did them.

Have a support system- No matter the decision, it is important to always have a support system. You should never go down a path without people cheering you on. That way, whether you stumble or succeed, you will have someone in your corner. My support system is my parents, my best friend (you may know her, she is the other half of this blog!) and my boyfriend. Seriously, I tell them everything and bounce ideas off them constantly.

Shannon's Story - How My Path To Self Awareness Began


Sleep eluded me. I was in the midst of yet another bought with insomnia, and my patience was wearing thin. Sick and tired of the glowing red numbers on my alarm clock…I reached for my iPod. Soft, mellow music lulled me into a half-sleep. That sparked an idea. Perhaps there was some sort of sound that could relax me. I wound up on YouTube, where I discovered rain noises, guided meditations, and eventually, ASMR. The latter sparked my path to self-awareness.

ASMR became a major part of my life. It helped me sleep, eased my anxiety, and opened my mind to new things. What kind of new things? Many ASMR creators were posting videos related to crystal therapy, Reiki healing, gridding, and Chakras. It was mind blowing. Suddenly, a whole new world had opened up to me.

I felt an immediate connection but had no clue where to begin. Less than a week later, my best friend and I were browsing through our local bookstore. To my surprise, she mentioned her desire to look for a book on Chakras. It was a moment of divine timing. We poured over the shelves and went home with a new sense of purpose.

Since then, we have been reading books, adding to our crystal collections, taking classes, and learning as much as possible. It has been an incredible journey – but it is only just beginning. What an exciting thought.

Amanda's Story- Learning To Love Myself Again


Not going to lie, 2013  and 2014 were the worst years for me. A new boss had transferred to my restaurant and he either loved you or hated you. Take a guess which category I fit into. In the span of 4-5 months 10 friends and family members died. I was also dealing with health issues which resulted in lots of medication and even 1 surgery. So I stand by my statement. '13 and '14 sucked.

Never shying away from a challenge I decided to tackle each problem head on. I worked harder at my job, focused on loved ones that needed me and continued medication that I didn't necessarily believed in. You know what I got out of all that? Nothing.  Nothing except the realization that I lost myself. That realization hit hard.

I don't remember what set me on my own path to self discovery, but I do remember looking up alternative options to medication. That's when I found crystals.

I was very curious, but very cautious about it. I still am. How could I not be, when society is so focused on science and facts. I didn't tell anyone, except for Shannon and my mom. Both were equally intrigued and eager to join me on my quest to bettering myself.

We visited our first crystal shop together and made the first purchases that would change our lives for the better. We had officially gone down the rabbit hole. No stopping us now.

Over the last couple of years I have had the opportunity to learn how to meditate, take some classes and study crystals and other areas that interest me. Best of all? I learned to love myself again. I quit my job and got a better one, I focused on my grief and got rid of some of the meds.  My life is not perfect, but it's certainly better than what it used to be. It's all about what you put out in the universe!
