My Connection to Red Goldstone

I don’t have much to remember my grandmother by. My sister was given most of her prized possessions, like the gold bangles she wore each day. Me? I was left with a pair of wood earrings (that she had never worn), a photograph (that was later stolen by my cousin), and a stone.

I found the stone on the day of her funeral. There were people everywhere and yet I had never felt so alone. While everyone else was eating finger sandwiches and making small talk…I started to wander. Though I can’t recall exactly where the stone was…I remember how it felt to hold it in my hand. For a brief moment, I felt connected to my grandmother again. An intense feeling of love and protection took over. So, I kept the stone.

After my unexpected discovery, I went back to the living room with the others. I didn’t tell anyone about the stone (for fear that someone else would lay claim) and kept it safely tucked in my pocket. Whenever I had a moment alone, I held it in my hand, and felt that wave of love and protection surround me.

That stone is still in my collection. In fact, I suppose you could say that it started my collection. That small piece of goldstone gave me strength long before I knew what stones and crystals were used for. It has been with me for years and years…. and every now and then, I hold it in my hand, and feel my grandmother’s love once more.

Characteristics of Red Goldstone

  • The gold flecks (or sparkles) in red goldstone symbolize the idea that light can be found even in darkness.
  • It can be a helpful stone if you are feeling emotionally or physically lost. Additionally, it deflects unwanted energies, and acts as a protective stone.
  • Works well for long distance healing because it enhances transmission of healing energies.
  • Helps with courage, confidence, focus, ambition, and insight. It also helps you achieve and maintain a positive attitude.

There are many stones that matter to me. Some, I reach for on a regular basis and others only when they are needed. Out of all the stones in my collection…this is by far the most important.

Do you have meaningful stones in your collection?

An Interview With Shannon

Cosmic Positivity has been a beautiful gift given to us from the universe. I truly believe that things are suppose to happen for a reason. This blog came at the perfect time for us and it would not be alive today if both of were not passionate about it.What works well for us is that Shannon and I bring different skills and talents to the table and we support and push each other to work on our passions.

Today I am actually really excited. I get to brag about Shannon. Shannon is the ying to my yang, the peanut butter to my jelly, my bestie, my twin flame. The twin flame relationship is one of the most significant relationships to have in your life time and even though they don't always last forever, they will forever leave a mark on your soul. When twin flames reunite their spiritual growth grows at a rapid rate. You will notice certain similarities and it will be like looking in a mirror. That is how it is with Shannon and I. I am lucky to have found her.

Shannon is a talented, dedicated, loyal person who wears her heart on her sleeve. While most people would describe her as shy and sweet (which she is), I would use other words such as determined, fun, and not afraid to step out of her comfort zone in  order to better herself.  I am lucky to have been a part of her journey for the last 7 years.

So this week we decided to interview  each other that way you can get to know us and Cosmic Positivity a bit better. Enjoy my interview with Shannon!

What inspired you to start blogging?

Writing has always been important to me. After graduating from University, I was searching a creative outlet. So, I started a music blog. Later, I traded in that blog for a beauty and fashion blog (which I have been running for six years), and eventually, Amanda and I started Cosmic Positivity!

Walk me through your process of writing.

It usually starts with a new Word document. There is something about the blank page that inspires me to create. Often, I have ideas mapped out in my head beforehand (or on a scrap piece of paper) and use them as my guide. Beyond that…. I just write and see what happens!

What has been your favourite piece so far?

There have been a lot of pieces that I am really proud of on Cosmic Positivity. But my favourite is one that is coming up this Sunday. It is the bonus post for the week and is all about goldstone. Writing that blog post was very healing for me. It allowed me to remember the special connection my grandmother and I had.

What topic are you most excited for?

Spoiler alert: Amanda and I have some incredible theme weeks coming up! The one that I am most excited for is pop culture week. There is a celebrity-inspired piece that I’ve been desperate to write about.

What do you want to learn about?

Oh, there are so many things that I want to learn more about. I want to dig deeper into angel therapy, to find out about reiki and distance healing, and improve my knowledge of crystals and their many uses.

What are three goals you have for this blog?

My three goals for Cosmic Positivity are:
  • To help people further their knowledge on topics related to crystal therapy and self-improvement.
  • To learn more with every single blog post.
  • Continue to share this amazing experience with my best friend.

I know that John Denver is a big inspiration to you. Tell us who he is, how he affects you, and how he ties into Cosmic Positivity.

John Denver is one of the best-selling male artists of all time. Unfortunately, many people in my generation have no clue who he is. His career dates back to the late 1960s, but he released music consistently until his death in 1997. John is without a doubt one of the biggest influences in my life. His music is poetry. It reminds me that words are powerful, life is beautiful, and there is always kindness to share. Much of John’s music relates to nature, gratitude, and the importance of connection…. and I think those themes tie in perfectly with Cosmic Positivity.

Describe yourself as a writer in three words.

Honest (writing allows me to express the most honest parts of myself), professional (both in my work ethic and my writing style), and helpful (my ultimate goal is to help people through my work).

What does Cosmic Positivity mean to you?

Cosmic Positivity means more to me than I can properly express. It symbolizes the incredible bond that Amanda and I have, the trust we share, and the incredible journey of knowledge and self-discovery that we are on. It is a safe space that keeps me inspired.

How does Cosmic Positivity make the world a better place?

When you put positive energy and intention into a project…it benefits everyone. Cosmic Positivity gives me a sense of pride and fulfilment. And I like to think that maybe it brings joy to the people reading it.

What crystal represents Cosmic Positivity to you?

Citrine immediately came to mind. It represents abundance, success, and personal power. It also has energy related to good luck and good fortune. Those qualities are all things we want tied to this blog, in my opinion. I like the idea of Cosmic Positivity being surrounded by luck and positive energy.

Where do you see Cosmic Positivity in 1 year? 5 years? 10 years?

In the next year, I see Cosmic Positivity really gaining its footing. There will be lots of incredible theme weeks and I hope we can continue to build our audience. In five years, I would love us to still be blogging and learning and sharing…but I’d also like us to branch out and incorporate other creative projects into it! In ten years, it would be amazing if we were able to attend new age events, interview people, and really take things to the next level. Who knows! Anything is possible.

Bonus Questions:

If you could be a magical creature, what would it be and why?

I would be a unicorn because then I’d be pink, purple, and glittery!

If there were no limitations, what would you do with this blog?

Ideally, we would be able to commit ourselves to the blog completely. Doing everything we can to gain an audience, taking more original photos, attending and reviewing different classes and workshops, and so on.

What do you think your favourite alcoholic beverage says about you?

Ha! Probably that I am a creature of habit, since I always order the same thing: vodka cranberry.

If you were stranded on a deserted island and you could only bring crystals or makeup, which would you choose?

Crystal infused makeup! Is that cheating? Okay…. crystals. Because it I were stranded and alone, then I would need crystals to keep me focused, positive, and connected to something bigger than myself.

Britney or Madonna?

Britney! I love both, but Britney Spears is someone I have idolized for such a long time.

Well that is Shannon in a nutshell. At least when it comes to Cosmic Positivity anyways. We hope you enjoyed our Friendship Week! Come back on Sunday, Shannon has an awesome personal story to tell!

An Interview With Amanda

It’s rare that you meet someone who gets you. Who has a way of making you feel at ease and understood. Lucky for me, I met my best friend Amanda, and that is exactly what happened. Our friendship is easily one of the most important aspects of my life. She is not only my best friend…. but someone I love, respect, and admire.

Amanda is strong, determined, hard working, and honest. She is an incredible listener and an even better friend. Here is your chance to get to know her a little bit better.....

How did you come up with the name, Cosmic Positivity?
I wish I had a big epic story for this, but I really don’t. We have always talked about making the world a better place somehow, so I think that’s where Positivity comes from. As far as the word Cosmic, I didn’t want us to be limited to a topic such as crystals or Chakras. It sort of embodied everything we could want to talk about.

How has writing for the blog affected or changed your life so far?
I am a sucker for projects. After leaving my previous job, I had no special projects to work on, so I became bored and a couch potato. This gives me something that I can really sink my teeth into.

What are the best and worst things about blogging?
The worst is editing pictures. Oh wow, does it ever take forever! The best is all the knowledge I am getting and then giving to other people.

What is your favourite post on Cosmic Positivity?
I have 2: the post you wrote on “How my path to self awareness began” and my piece on “my beliefs, my faith, my way." I really like our personal stories.

Do you have a theme week that stands out as either your favourite or one you are most looking forward to?
Your crystal makeup week really made me excited. I think that’s what I am most looking forward to! Our spirit animal week was awesome too!

What are your long-term goals for the blog?
I don’t know. I know I don’t want it to end, that’s for sure. I would love to see it grow and for us to develop a community/family.

Describe what Cosmic Positivity means to you in three words.
This one is easy! I can do it in 2 words. SAFE HAVEN.

Which topics are you an expert on? Which do you want to learn more about?
I don’t think I am an expert on any of the topics. I am still learning. I think I really want to learn about aromatherapy next.

If you could pick one crystal to represent Cosmic Positivity, what would it be and why?
This one was extremely difficult. I think your piece on Blue Goldstone inspires me to choose that stone. Not something I thought I would’ve picked, but it just seems right.

How do you stay inspired on a schedule?
I think having a partner in this really makes me have to stay on a schedule. Sometimes though, I will just pick certain posts to work on because I want to.

Where do you see Cosmic Positivity in one year? Five years? Ten years?
Again, this one is tough. I have a tendency to jump 10 steps forward. I get way too excited sometimes. If we reach a point in our lives where we can expand Cosmic Positivity into different ventures, I would like to explore those options. We will know when that time comes. No point in rushing greatness!

Bonus Round Questions:

Who is your favourite Sesame Street character?
Big bird.

Glitter or sequins?
Glitter.

Would you rather be an ostrich or a fox and why?
Ostrich, because you can peck people who annoys you.

If you could have one object from any Harry Potter book, which would it be?
The time travelling necklace Hermoine has. Do you realize how much I could accomplish in one day!?

If you could run away with the circus, what would your act be?
Trapeze!

There you have it! An interview with my best friend and partner in crime, Amanda. She is without a doubt one of the best people on this planet...and I am so lucky to know her.

Crystals for Friendship

Friendship is important. No one wants to be alone. No one to talk to, laugh with or share secrets with. That would be depressing. Since this week we are focusing on friendship I want to take a moment and look at crystals that are associated with friendship.

Lapis Lazuli is known as the "Stone of truth and companionship". It brings harmony and deep communication t relationships. This beautiful stone helps to bond relationships by helping to express feelings. Lapis Lazuli is used in a lot of jewellry and are usually given in gifts at the beginning of new friendships, but can also be given during existing friendships to strengthen the relationship. This stone brings the wearer emotional strength and a clear mind in  order to achieve greater wisdom.

Topaz is nicknamed the "gem of friendship". It is a great stone to give in a friendship ring. If you gift this to a friend it is said that it helps the receiver become more charismatic and gracious. Topaz also has the ability to  protect against evil, poison and tragedy.

Carnelian is used in both new and faltering friendships. Orange crystals  help with friendship since orange is the colour of joy and friendship.  Carnelian helps protect the wearer from evil thoughts  and boost self confidence.

Carbuncle is a stone to help reconcile friendships. It can be found in rings, pendants or earrings. Since Carbuncle is suppose to fight against evil and vengeful thoughts so it is perfect to help friends who are fighting or had a falling out, in order for them to make amends.

Turquoise is a stone to help renew friendships. You should gift this gem when you want the person to feel love and courage.  It also helps to remove any animosity between two people.

Whether you're starting a new frienship,  apologizing, or just appreciating the friendship you already have, take a moment and give them one of these stones to make them feel loved!

Activities Friends Can Do Together For Spiritual Growth

I am someone who craves alone time. It is essential to me – especially when I need to re-charge, think something through, or be productive. Despite the importance of alone time, there is no denying the fact that some things are better when you have company. Certain activities and events are made memorable when you have another person to share them with.

In honour of friendship week, here are a few activities to do with friends that will benefit your spiritual growth and development.

Take a Class Together. There is power in numbers. Taking a class related to crystal therapy, candles, colours, or meditation can be a great way to learn…but it can also be a little intimidating. So, sign up with a friend to take anxiety out of the experience. You’ll expand your knowledge, spend time together, and make lasting memories.

Go For an Inspiration Walk. Life gets busy and overwhelming sometimes. That is why it is vital that you give yourself time to rest and relax. If you’ve been lacking inspiration (or feel completely drained) then invite your best friend to take an inspiration walk. Go somewhere you can enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Then you can chat, walk, and experience peace and tranquility as a pair. Another idea? Bring along your camera to take some inspirational nature photos.

Do a Guided Meditation Together. There are many benefits of group meditation. Not only can it help you achieve a sense of calm and inner reflection – but it can be a bonding experience for friends as well. Try doing a guided meditation to start (in a space you both feel comfortable) to make it a little easier. As you get used to the process, you can try meditating to soothing music or in silence. You’ll feel relaxed and your friendship will grow stronger. It’s a win-win.

There are plenty of ways to enhance your friendship, grow spiritually, and have a little fun. These are just a few suggestions to get you started. Be sure to share your own in the comment section!

Amanda's Current Inspirations

Every day brings us new and exciting sources of inspiration. Sometimes you have to really look in order to find them. Those sources are my favourite inspirations. I never expected to fall in love with crystals and chakras, but I am so glad I did because they are the reason why Cosmic Positivity is here and we get to hang out with all of you lovely people!

My crystal inspiration at the moment is the Carnelian. It's no surprise really since Carnelian is a stone for creativity. I have two desks in my apartment where I do most of my writing and I have a piece of it on each of the desk as well as my altar in my bedroom. I need to keep them to close in order to keep being inspired! This stone is perfect for me since I am always working on several projects at once. In fact I have my makeup look ready for when we do a week focusing on the colour red. My source of inspiration? Carnelian of course!

I really had to think about what my inspiration is for my quote and I finally saw this quote online and thought it was perfect!
This is perfect because as of right now there is so much anger and turmoil in the world. The world would be a much better place if we all sat back and just "chilled" for a moment. I know that I can get amped up and anxious pretty often. This quote reminds me to step back and just relax.

What is inspiring you lately? Any favourite quotes or crystals?

Inspired By: You Are a Badass

Reading has always been one of my favourite pastimes. In my youth, books were my escape from reality. They allowed me to visit far off places and become a wide array of different characters. It is only in the past couple of years that I have started to read books that are less about escape and more about reality. Self-help books have become an integral part of my path of self-discovery.

Out of all the books I have read on confidence, positivity, accepting change, and other such topics, the one that stands out to me the most is, “You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life” by Jen Sincero. It was a game changer. Not only is this book written in an approachable way (there is some swearing, the book is totally no-nonsense, and conversational) but it offers some great pearls of wisdom.

It covers just about everything. From why you are making excuses about things to connecting to your source energy to finding your passion and becoming a stronger human being. It also knows how to give you a much-needed push in the right direction. If you are looking for a self-help book that is going to coddle you and tell you everything is alright? Look elsewhere. “You Are a Badass” is all about motivating you to forgo excuses and start making changes.

There are specific challenges outlined to help you get started. Personal stories that make you feel understood. And laugh out loud lines to keep this intense personal development…fun. Out of all the self-help books I’ve read, this is by far the best. It is a straightforward book to help you get all you can out of life, become a more positive person, and love every minute of what you do.

Are you looking to change your life? To appreciate the little things? To become a badass? Then be sure to pick up this book the next time you visit your local bookstore.

What book has inspired you the most?

Finding Inspiration with the Right People

I have always prided myself on being a creative person. I can sometimes come up with the ost absurd and random ideas, which if executed properly, turn out to be the best projects. Sometimes though, no matter how much I try, the inspiration doesn't flow like it should. That's when I find the 3 people cloest to me and I bounce ideas off them- my bf, my mom and my partner in crime (Shannon). All 3 are my best supporters and great sounding boards in their own way.

While my mom and bf offer their expertise in areas such as arts and crafts, they mostly just sit back and let the wheels in my head spin until I come up with the right project. This allows me to come up with ideas on my own, without sounding crazy by talking to myself.

There is a reason why Shannon and I work well together. Even more impportant than the fact that we're best friends, we have 1 particular rule that we abide by: No Judging. That rule has helped us to remember to support rather than hinder. That is why I know I can go to her when I need to think up some wild and creative ideas. We have a process that works for us when it comes to inspiration. We bounce ideas back and forth and they get more outrageous by the minute. Then out of the crazy web of ideas we just created comes one idea that is the Perfect Idea. That is how we've come up with theme days, special projects and Cosmic Positivity!

So how do you find inspiration within your people? Here are some ideas  to get you started:
  • Have a wide range of friends. You can't think outside the box if you all think the same!
  • Look at everyone's strengths and weaknesses, Utilize them. You're not using your friends, just helping each other to gecome better people.
  • Implicate the No Judging Rule. Honestly it strengthens friendships and relationships. Don't laugh and tease each other for ideas that you have. Build up each other's self esteem in order to achieve greatness.
  • Get rid of the vampires. Yes vampires. The ones that suck the energy out of you. They will do nothing but bring you down and make you miserable. Sometimes without you realizing it.
  • Talk to each other. Don't text or message. Talk. Talk about what is going on your lives, what's going on with the world and anything else that crosses your mind. Someone might say something that could give your inspirtation for your next big project!

Look at the people you hang out with. Are they building you up? Can you bounce ideas off them?
Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Shannon’s Current Inspirations

Inspiration is essential. Not only does it lift our spirits and give us hope…but it fills us with an undeniable sense of purpose. It pushes us to create with passion and feel emotions with reckless abandon. Each and every time inspiration hits, I am swept away to a blissful state of wonder.

Equally important as feeling inspired is taking time to reflect on those moments of magic. It may have been sparked by a picture, a book, a conversation, a colour, or any number of things. Take note of where that feeling comes from. Appreciate it, be grateful for it, and love every little thing about it. On that note, here are a few of my current inspirations....

Blue Goldstone. Not long ago, Amanda and I ventured into the local gemstone shop. Though she was good and didn't buy anything…I ended up splurging on a couple of items. That included a piece of blue goldstone. This stone is all about wisdom and connection. It boosts energy and courage and is one of the best stones for Empaths (people who are hypersensitive, like me). It is beautiful to look at and an incredible source of inspiration.

Quote: Now for the quote that is inspiring me lately. I found “We Keep This Love In a Photograph” when I was browsing a website of pictures. (One of my go-to places to visit when I am looking for a dose of inspiration!) Now, I am not a huge fan of Ed Sheeran, but this line sparked something inside me. Pictures have always been an important part of my life. I love to take them and look through them. There is something special about capturing moments.

The great thing about inspiration? It can hit at any time…and it is always changing. For now, these are the things that are filling me up with joy, hope, and passion.

What inspires you?

My Passion For Crystals Renewed My Love Of Writing

I forgot how much fun it was to sit down with a pen and paper and let my thoughts transfer from my mind to paper. While Shannon is definitely the experienced writer out of the two of us (have you read her stuff, it's fabulous- check out "What to Do When Your Family Doesn't Support You" here ), I am reminded of my own history with writing.

English was always one of my easiest subjects in school. Even though I fumble my words when I speak, they seem to flow more naturally on paper. Talking about books and coming up with stories was one of my favourite things to do as a kid. Growing up I was given opportunities to write speeches, fall in love with poetry and take creative writing classes. If you gave me a notebook I filled it. If I found a scrap piece of paper I wrote on it. If I had a diary I would pour my heart out. I was obsessed with writing.

High school created  new and exciting challenges with writing. I excelled with essays, while other subjects and parts of high school became more difficult. I still was able to put my love for writing to use, but in a different format.

After high school, the responsibilities of being an adult made me have less time for writing. What was the point? My job didn't require it and I had barely enough  time and energy to enjoy it at the end of the day.

Now that Cosmic Positivity is born I feel like this is the perfect outlet for me to write. I know Shannon feels the same. It's amazing how writing about your passion can light a fire under your butt. I really look forward everyday to writing in my notebook. Yes, I am old school, I prefer pen and paper before I touch the computer.

The blog makes me so happy and I know that Shannon and I are both fortunate to have a safe haven where we get to talk, write, research and come up with some amazing topics to talk about.

How do you feel about writing? Are you as passionate about your blog as the day you created it?

Add a Happy Affirmation to Your Day!

Whoever came up with the phrase "Sticks and Stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me" is a liar. It is much easier to believe the negative things people may say about you, then the positive. I really wonder why that is. Why can we focus more on the negative rather than the positive? When can we start to believe the good things that people tell us?

I think it has to start from within. You need to say positive things to yourself every day in order to make yourself feel good. Don't rely on others to build yourself up. You have the power to do that on your own! As an added bonus, you will make yourself happy, and being happy is what it's all about! Here are some affirmations for happiness you can use everyday to remind yourself that you are fantastic, and that no one should dull your sparkle!

  • I see the good in everything.
  • I am grateful for my life.
  • I will become happy and spread positive energy to others.
  • I will always see the bright side in life, especially in difficult situations
  • I choose to have a positive view of myself and others
  • I will no longer allow the negative things in my life spoil all the good things I have. I choose to be happy.
  • Every day I envision being happy and prosperous.
  • I choose happy thoughts.
  • I am peacefully allowing my life to unfold.
  • Life is too short, to miss out on being happy.
Happiness should start come from within. Make sure that you don't rely on others to make you happy. Your happiness belongs to you and you alone! Go out and make the world a better place and add some positivity to it!

Attitude of Gratitude Affirmations

When the New Year began, I came up with a pretty substantial list of resolutions. These were things that I wanted to accomplish, study, and work towards. One of the most important resolutions was to practise gratitude. Why? There are so many incredible aspects of my life, from my loved ones to the things I am able to do. I have an enormous amount to be grateful for – and yet, gratitude does not always come naturally.

Our society pushes us to want more than we have…. and when we get it…we are supposed to want even more. Instead of being grateful for the abundant blessings that surround us, we are in a constant state of lack. This is something I am actively trying to overcome. You can too! Recite these affirmations to achieve an attitude of gratitude.

  • I have more than enough. I do more than enough. I am more than enough.
  • In this moment, I am grateful and blessed.
  • Even on a bad day, there are people who love me.
  • Nothing can stop me from living a wonderful life. I am open to a new way of thinking!
  • My attention is focused on activities and behaviours that benefit my body, mind, and spirit.
  • There is always something beautiful to behold if you really look for it.
  • I love my life and am grateful for every opportunity that presents itself.
  • Life may not always work out as planned, but I adapt because I have everything I need to persevere.
  • I share my joy with the world…. and the world shares its joy with me.
  • I am thankful for the start of each new day.

There is nothing like a bit of gratitude to put things into perspective. Even when the days seem dark…there is always something good in the universe. Open your eyes and find it!

Which attitude of gratitude affirmation is your favourite?

Affirmations to Help You on Your Spiritual Journey

A spiritual journey can mean many things to many people. It is your personal journey and yours alone. While Shannon and I have received a lot of great feedback from people about Cosmic Positivity and our spiritual journey, there are still some people who would rather be negative about it. We have to keep reminding ourselves that we are not doing this for other people. This is for us and even though it's great to get the positive feedback from everyone, the only way we'll continue on this path is if we keep being positive about it. So we focus on spiritual development affirmations to remind ourselves that we are on the right path for us.

Here are some Spiritual Development Affirmations to help you on your journey:
  • The Universe naturally and freely provides for all my needs.
  •  I am responsible for my own spiritual growth.
  •  I am a spiritual being having a human experience.
  • The entirety of creation is now conspiring for my good.
  •  My faith is making me whole.
  • I am open to the wisdom of the Universe as it guides me in everything I do.
  • I embrace Silence as the source of all deep understanding and wisdom
  • I am at One with my life's Purpose
  • My thoughts, feelings and beliefs are in total harmony with divine consciousness
  • I am always aware of my inner body, keeping me fully anchored in the present moment.
Remember that just because you say these affirmations out loud does not mean the universe will provide automatically. You need to believe in them and put out good in the world in order to receive good. You are in charge of your own destiny and journey, you need to do a bit of work too.

What are some of your favourite affirmations? Why? Let us know in the comment section below!

Affirmations for Self Esteem

Affirmations are a big part of my life. They lift my spirits, keep me focused, and give me the drive I need to achieve my goals. Words are extraordinarily powerful – and positive affirmations are proof of that. They have been found to boost feelings of self-confidence, create a positive mindset, and reduce stress levels.

The way you communicate with yourself matters. So, to give your brain that extra boost of joy today…here are some self-esteem related affirmations. Choose the ones you love and carry them with you throughout the day.

  • With every day that passes, I become more comfortable and at home in my body.
  • I love myself. I am a unique being with gifts and talents to share with the world.
  • I am strong. I am determined. I am loveable.
  • I feel good about myself.
  • Comparison is not a part of my life. I focus on my own achievements and success.

Colour Blue and How It Affects Your Life

https://www.google.ca/search?q=blue+decor&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi01enM1YTTAhXK3YMKHey7BA4Q_AUIBigB&biw=1366&bih=659#imgrc=v8WMI6LsyARYDM:
Do you ever feel drawn to a particular colour? It can say a lot about what is going on in your life at that time. This week you have heard us talk about the blue throat chakra, blue crystals and how the colour blue affects your personality. Today is all about the colour blue and how it affects your life. If you ever want to read about a book about colours and how they work in our lives, may I suggest Color Magic For Beginners by Richard Webster. It's fantastic and breaks things down, so that beginners like myself can learn about many different topics without feeling overwhelmed. When we do our Book Review Week I plan on doing a review for it! I am excited for it.

Colours in the home
Colours appear to you the moment you open your eyes. You look around your bedroom and you see the colours you've decorated your bedroom with. You walk around the rooms of your home. You see the colours of your walls, the furniture and the decor. You may have chosen colours because you liked them or gone with a them you wanted in your home.

Blue in the home
Blue is a common colour in the home. It works well in bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchens, because it is a calming colour. It soothes a person and relaxes them. As much as blue is a cool colour it does work well in a warm sunny room with windows. Don't put it in your dining room, hallways or basement.

Healing with colours
Colour healing has been around for thousands of years, in many different cultures. Today with modern medicine colour therapy has taken a backseat. If something has been around for so many years, there must be some truth to it. Now I am not saying that colour therapy should take the place of a doctor, but it could very well work along side it. It's something to look into at least!

What is colour therapy? It's when different parts of the body are exposed to particular colours and are stimulated, which helps with healing.

Healing with the colour blue
When parts of your body are inflamed, the colour blue is meant to help balance them out again. it is also used to calm oneself when emotional issues arise. There are several illnesses that respond well to the colour blue: bowel problems, burns, fevers, headaches and gastrointestinal problems to name a few.

Like I said, we at Cosmic Positivity are not suggesting that colour therapy takes the place of a doctor, but it is interesting to know that colours can help healing as well.

Thank you so much for joining us on our journey with the colour blue. We had a blast doing it and can't wait for the next colour!

Understanding the Throat Chakra

It all started with Chakras. After watching an ASMR video related to the topic, I found myself intrigued by the idea. Perhaps this is why the first spiritual (or new age, if you prefer) book I purchased was related to the Chakras. Since then, I have been working to expand my knowledge on this topic, through reading, meditation, and crystal work.

In honour of blue week here on Cosmic Positivity, this post is dedicated to the Throat Chakra. Get ready to find out more about the fifth Chakra….

What Is The Throat Chakra?

The throat chakra is an essential part of the body. It relates to the voice – which allows energy from all of the other chakras to be expressed. The colour blue represents the throat, which is why blue crystals are often used to unblock or create balance.

If the throat chakra is balanced and in harmony, we are able to express our thoughts, feelings, and emotions with ease. Communication is simple and we are able to live and speak our own personal truth. Expression should be both stress free and rewarding.

When this chakra is out of balance, we may experience physical symptoms, such as headaches or a sore throat. It may also bring about emotional symptoms, like the inability to communicate effectively, being at a loss for words, or feeling misunderstood.

Throat Chakra Facts
  • The Sanskirt name for the throat chakra is Visuddha.
  • Physical associations include the throat, ears, mouth, shoulders, and neck.
  • It is psychologically linked to communication and creative identity.
  • Shyness is a common sign that your throat chakra is out of alignment (which is of interest to me, as being shy has affected my life for as long as I can remember).
  • Working through negative emotions can benefit this chakra.

How To Unblock This Chakra

There are many different ways to bring this chakra into alignment. Some suggestions include: working with blue crystals (especially dark blue crystals which often represent truth), visualizing the colour blue, singing (sound therapy can help unblock the throat chakra), listening to soothing music or a guided meditation, lighting a blue candle, or speaking from a place of love and compassion. Before long…your throat chakra will be unblocked and your communication will improve.

What do you do to keep the throat chakra in alignment?

Blue Crystals and all their glory

While blue crystals are not usually my go-to crystals in my collection ( in fact I have maybe 10), I can appreciate the qualities they possess. As someone whose throat chakra is blocked more times than not, I vow to add more blue crystals to my collection. Meditating with them, will certainly help balance it. While researching this week I found some common traits among most of these beautiful stones:
  • Calming
  • Clearing the mind
  • Releases stress
  • Mostly helps the throat chakra, but can also help with the third eye chakra
  • Helps with communication
Check out some of these crystals to try out the next time you want to work with the colour blue!

Blue Lace Agate, a crystal often used for activating and healing the throat chakra, is a beautiful healing stone. It focuses on relieving anger, infection, inflammation and fever. It is also great to help with thoughts, feelings and expression.

Aquamarine is a stone of courage. It calms, reduces stress and quiets the mind. It is a great stone for sensitive people. It works over time for people who are overwhelmed with responsibility., by calming the mind  and helping one to express themselves. It is also a great stone for meditation.

Blue Calcite works well with the throat chakra as it helps with communication. All calcites can cleanse the negative energy in a room, but blue calcite can absorb that energy, cleanse it and then return it back to the sender.

Chryscolla is a truly special stone. It doesn't work with just one chakra. It re-energizes all of them! How cool is that? It is a great stone to help when you need to focus on your inner strength, confidence and self awareness.

Lapis Lazuli is another fabulous stone that works well with the throat chakra. It is also a stone that is great to use when sleeping as it helps to enhance dreams. Lapis Lazuli works well with people who want to take charge of their life. It promotes self awareness and self expression.
* After researching Lapis Lazuli I actually went out to buy a stone. I am actually quite intrigued by this one.

Researching blue crystals was actually a lot of fun. It made me realize there are so many stones that I am missing out on. What are some of your favourites?

Personality Traits and the Colour Blue

Every colour has a meaning. Beyond our surface interpretations (pink as feminine and blue as masculine, for example), there is a deeper definition. Specific colours bring forth certain images…but they can also highlight personality traits as well. Since this is Blue Week here on Cosmic Positivity, it is time to find out a little more about this colour.

What Blue Means

There are many interpretations of the colour blue. It is the same colour as the sky and the water, and because of that, it is typically associated with stability and depth. In addition, it can also symbolize trust, wisdom, truth, faith, intelligence, and confidence. This shade can provide you with a sense of calm in times of stress.

Personality Traits

If you are drawn to the colour blue (or if it happens to be your favourite colour), it indicates that you:

  • Are trustworthy of others and have a deep need to be trusted. You do not give away trust easily, however, and are wary of people until you get to know them.
  • Your nature is not spontaneous or impulsive. You tend to think before you act and look at life logically.
  • There is a need for peace, calm, and stability in your life. Meditation and alone time is essential for you.
  • On the outside, you appear confident but inside, you have a deep vulnerability.
  • You love to be needed and always put the needs of others ahead of your own.
  • Typically, you enjoy direction and order, prefer to do things your way, and take your responsibilities seriously.

How to Add More Blue to Your Life

If blue is a colour that interests you (or reflects your personality), there are many ways to incorporate it into your life. A few ideas include: wearing blue clothing or accessories, working with blue crystals, adding blue pieces into your home d├ęcor, or lighting a blue candle whenever you feel stressed or overwhelmed.

What does your favourite colour say about you? Keep reading Cosmic Positivity to find out! Blue is just the first colour week in our oh-so-colourful series. Stay tuned!

Is blue your favourite colour?

Forging My Own Path – And Letting Go Of Shame

I have mentioned in the past that I do not have the support of my family when it comes to my “new age” endeavours. This has been difficult at times, as there is nothing worse than living with secrets. However, more and more I am learning to love myself and this journey I’m on. It may not be right for other people but it is right for me.

Over the last several months, I have been working to let go of the guilt and shame associated with this spiritual side of me. How? By lighting candles and reciting positive affirmations, doing guided meditations for personal growth, reading books related to crystal healing, angel therapy, and lifestyle topics, and (perhaps most importantly) blogging.

Working on Cosmic Positivity with my best friend Amanda has been a huge step forward for me. Not only has it allowed me to be honest about my passions…. but it has helped me realize there is a community of people out there. Those people have offered nothing but love, support, and understanding. Thank you for being a part of my journey. It means more to me than I can explain.

From this point on, I am listening to my heart. I am forging my own path. I am letting go of negative emotions. The more I work on myself (and delve deeper into this learning experience), the better I seem to feel. That tells me one thing: this makes sense.

So…. this is me. As I am.
