Staying Inspired During Travel

Every vacation is different. Some leave you awestruck while others are fun and fancy-free. One common issue that travellers have? Feeling uninspired. Sure, you’re having a good time, seeing new things, and exploring the world…but having a good time and feeling inspired are two very different things.

This summer, I will be going on a two and a half week trip with my family. Excited? Absolutely. Nervous? You bet. Being surrounded by people (even my loved ones) non-stop for that length of time will be tough. I am someone who craves alone time, so suddenly, that will be gone. And it is likely that my inspiration will go with it.

Luckily, I have a plan. Here are some sure-fire ways to help you stay inspired on your next trip….

Pay Attention to Sunsets. When you’re travelling, there are always a million things occupying your mind. Whether it is where to go for dinner, which theme park ride to line up for, or what you’ll do the next day…. it’s easy to miss the small stuff. Wherever you are in the world, make time for sunsets. Pay attention to them, appreciate them, and allow yourself to be inspired by them. Simply noticing this natural wonder can make a huge difference.

Pause and Appreciate Small Moments. Speaking of paying attention! There is something to be said for small moments of appreciation. Honesty, they don’t happen as often as they should. To make your next trip the best one yet, be sure to stop and smell the roses. Every now and then, pause, and look around you. What do you see? Smell? Hear? Feel? What stands out to you? What inspires you in this moment? The more observant you become, the easier it will be to experience moments of magic.

Take Lots and Lots of Pictures. Photographs are a great way to get inspired. I’m not talking cute beach selfies (though those are certainly great for social media) but pictures of places, landscapes, or events. Capture these inspired moments with a photo! You can extend the moment of inspiration by looking back at your photos each night before bed. Your inspired state of mind will help you sleep better, boost your mood, and enhance your overall vacation experience.

There are so many ways to stay inspired while travelling. These are just a few ideas to help you get started. Be sure to share your own inspiration tips in the comment section below!
