Dr. Strange- The Movie We All Needed

Movies and tv shows have popularized witches and magic for many years. It is not a new thing, even if their portrayal is not exactly accurate. We have seen movies such as The Witches of Eastwick, The Craft, Practical Magic and of course my favourite, Harry Potter! What is not a common theme is chakras, astral projection or the third eye. If we're ever lucky to get a mention of chakras in a movie, it is usually mentioned in passing in relation to yoga or meditation. That is until now.

Dr. Strange is just what we needed and 2016 was the perfect year to release it. With new age techniques becoming more and more popular we needed something to help make it more mainstream. This movie made that happen.

Dr. Strange is a superhero who started off as a surgeon. After a tragic accident that destroyed his hands he went off in search of holistic experimental techniques since modern medicine failed him. What he got was so much more.

Since this is the era of the geek (don't worry I am one too) Marvel made a great choice in creating this movie based off one of the most popular comics.  While Dr. Strange is part of something bigger (the Marvel Cinematic Universe) I don't  think Marvel even realized what they tapped into.

When most people think of meditation, chakras and astral projection they think it's "hippie nonsense". Something that is not real. If they keep making movies like Dr. Strange we can start to change people's minds. We can then start to educate people who are willing to accept that these concepts are real. How cool will that be?

What did you think of the movie? Do you think it's a great way to mainstream new age techniques? Let me know your opinion here!
